Garden Viewing 2015

Date Wednesday, 8 April 2015, 16:00-19:00
Venue Residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands
On the evening of 8 April, Ambassador and Mrs. van Vollenhoven cordially invited the JNS and De Liefde Club members to their residence for the garden viewing and the film watching.  The weather was unexpectedly cold for April even with occasional snow falling, but 55 members admired the fresh green garden with lovely tulips in full bloom. The film was about the light in Holland in art and reality. The unique documentary ‘Dutch Light’ examined scientifically why the light in Holland is different from the light in other places. As the Netherlands has the large water surface and flat landscape, the water particles in the air reflect the sun light, and the diffused lights are reflected on the clouds and on the lakes. That is why the light in Holland is so different from other places. After watching the film, we enjoyed friendly conversation over wine, sandwiches and sweets. It really was an enchanted spring evening with the warmhearted OMOTENASHI by Ambassador and Mrs. van Vollenhoven and the beautiful ‘tulpen’ in Japanese Light!
