Kimono Magic Show

Date Monday, 9 March 2015, 13:00-15:20
Venue Residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands
The day started at 10:00 with models' 3-hour dressing session in the library of the Netherlands Ambassador's Residence. It was at 1:00 pm that the show finally began with Ms Germa Yoshida's informative compact lecture on kimono history, and then models appeared to the catwalk, wearing kimono in evolutionary ways introduced by Ms. Masumi Seki, an artist raised and educated in the U. S. A. The audience was stunned and happy. Later Masumi said, “It was wonderful to see the smiles on the faces of everyone there. The models did magnificent performances and looked beautiful, each expressing their own personalities.”
We were extremely lucky to have all the three elements of a successful show;
①The creative artist with her skilled assistant.
②Handsam and elegant five Dutch ladies and five Japanese members volunteered as models as well as a governor demonstrating furisode dressing.
③The most ideal venue generously offered and prepared by HE Mrs. van Vollenhoven and the staff.
We are grateful to all those people for their commitment, not to mention forty six people including eleven Dutch members present in spite of rain.
