De Liefde Club
Would you like to join 'De Liefde Club' ?
De Liefde Club was established on the 8th of June 1998 with the approval of the Japan-Netherlands Society at its Annual General Meeting and mainly consists of female members of the JNS.
The name, De Liefde Club, derives from the first Dutch ship 'De Liefde' that cast ashore of Japan in 1600 and was given by Mme. Nouyhuys, former Netherlands Ambassador’s wife, who undertook the first Honorary Representative Governorship of the club. The successive Netherlands Ambassador’s wives have assumed the post.
The purpose of the club is to promote mutual understanding and friendship among Dutch ladies living in Japan and Japanese ladies having lived in the Netherlands or having interested in Dutch culture and its people.
The club holds 4 or 5 events in a year such as bus tours to historic sites related to the Netherlands and Japan, Christmas luncheon, as well as ones introducing Dutch art and culture such as Dutch paintings exhibition in Tokyo and lectures on various fields.
With your participation in De Liefde Club, we wish to develop the further friendship between the Netherlands and Japan.
