The Japan-Netherlands Society:Events

In 2009 it will be precisely 400 years after the Netherlands received the official permission of Ieyasu Tokugawa to trade with Japan and trade was established in Hirado, Nagasaki. During these two years, all kinds of events and exchange projects to commemorate these memorable dates, are planned in both countries.

2008 and 2009 will be the "Japan-Netherlands Year"

The coming two years mark an important milestone in the longstanding relationship between Japan and the Netherlands.
In 2008 we will celebrate that the Treaty of Amenity and Commerce was concluded between the governments of Japan and the Netherlands 150 years ago.
