[MINI OUTING] series no.6 Kamakura Visit Report

Date Wednesday, 2 February 2020
Venue Kamakura City, Kanagawa

On Wednesday, 12 February 2020, 19 participants enjoyed the mini-outing to Kamakura. First, we visited the Kamakurabori Museum near the station. After we enjoyed their exhibits of the traditional lacquerware made in Kamakura, from 14th century to modern times, the chief curator demonstrated how to carve with many different shaped knives. After the lunch served in Kamakurabori dishes, we walked to Kaburaki Kiyokata Memorial Art Museum, where Kiyokata, the great painter of modern Japanese style, spent his later years. With the curator we walked around the house, admired the paintings and the Japanese style atelier.  There we broke up and some enjoyed the winter peony garden nearby or shopping at Komachidori street.
