On 4 December 2019, De Liefde Club held the Christmas Luncheon at Maison Paul Bocuse in Daikan’yama. It was also the occasion to welcome Mme. Joan Mitchell-van der Vliet, wife of the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as our new Honorary Governor. After Mme. van der Vliet introduced herself, Mrs. Anne Lande Peters, wife of the new Minister Plenipotentiary, proposed ‘Kanpai’, and 67 participants enjoyed authentic French cuisine in a friendly atmosphere. Mme. van der Vliet wished to talk with as many participants as possible and changed tables after some of the courses. We also had an exciting time at the bazaar table filled with cute handicrafts, delicious cheese, wine, and so on. We are grateful to the many members who donated items for the bazaar. The proceeds will be used to send some presents to the children of Oranda-jima House in Yamada-machi on Christmas and other occasions. As the finale, we sang ‘Silent Night’ and ‘White Christmas’ together in a high Christmas spirit.
