Thursday, October 11, the JNS held Lecture by Ms. Ayano Hayashi: Allure of Dutch Painter Vermeer at FUJIFILM Head Office. Seeing Vermeer’ picture on the screen that is now displayed in the Vermeer Exhibition at Ueno, participants traced back Vermeer’s life and Dutch peoples’ daily lives in the 17C. With figures and imported household goods depicted in his paintings participants pictured people’s lifestyles of the time and Vermeer’s own room in their minds.

On “The Milkmaid” Ms. Hayashi said that the maid must have been cooking a bread pudding with bread and milk. At the reception participants asked Ms. Hayashi questions and had their photo taken with her.
